Greece: Update on Digital Nomads Visa

Following our latest alert about Digital Nomads, the Greek government intends to introduce the new visa regime during this summer. Competition is fierce, as many other countries have already implemented similar visa programs.  However, Greece’s main advantages include the high quality of life, the beautiful landscapes, the good weather, the digital transformation, the country’s reliable response to COVID-19 and the fact that Greece is a part of the EU and Schengen Area membership.

Discussions still focus on granting this visa type exclusively to people working for foreign companies, as also Brexit has predicted relevant scheme. This visa would be valid for 2 years with an option to renew. The main conditions the applicants should fulfill to successfully receive the visa are:

1. The applicant and their spouse should not already have access in the Greek labor market; and
2. The applicant’s income should cover living expenses.
