Hi to all! As there are so many things going on around us in all parts of the world, I feel the need to explain to all our friends out there what is going on in our country at the moment. It goes without saying that immigration procedures are affected by the facts, however, we are here to explain and ensure our clients that the country is working towards a better future and we confirm that Greece will keep its reputation of being a good host and continue welcoming the ones who wish to come, work and live with us!

National elections

We have had national elections last weekend. Result was that the right party being in power since 2019 won the elections but can not form a government by itself so new elections will follow on June the 25th that will bring to power the party that is elected by majority.

So, for the moment we have a temporary government with a caretaker Prime Minister called Sarmas (until today President of the Court of Auditors). With the responsibility of leading Greece to a new election scheduled for June 25th, Sarmas will head the caretaker government until a new administration is established. (please read this again immigration people! All procedures are affected, please bare with us!)

Other

Digitalisation:The present government (and most probably future government) is trying to digitalise the public sector in a speedy mode. This results in lack of alignment and education from the competent civil servants and failures of the newly tested systems both again resulting in more time consuming procedures and many time request for additional documents to align with the new procedures in place. Our team is constantly educating civil servants and we are trying to move quickly but sometimes this is not feasible.
Tourism:We have also entered the 2023 tourism period and you know what this means! Who would not wish to spend sometime in Greece this year? Consulates around the world face extra overload and temporary personnel has been called for assistance however, alignment with them on immigration law may take some extra time.

Looking forward to hearing your updates and if above sound familiar…
