Update on Permits: birth certificate may now be required for all applicants
Following our previous alerts and experience with applications to the Ministry, please note the following:
Changes
From now on, the Ministry will not accept applications from applicants
-whom their place of birth is not explicitly mentioned in their passport with latin characters
-the place of birth is not recognisable by Greek authorities.
The procedure and system used is still very new to the Ministry’s civil servants and therefore delays occur due to the fact that they face unexpected issues they are not in a position to reply on the way forward.
Way forward
In order to be proactive, we will request from applicants whose passports may not be accepted, the issuance of their birth certificate translated in Greek and in latin characters.
